Anonymous asked: I'd like to say something about the thing you wrote about tumblr's new policy. I know you've never cut, hope you never do. But I think tumblr's decision of shutting down blogs with in general this kind of content wasn't good. I self-harm, I am suicidal, and tumblr is the only place where I can be myself and not to feel alone because I find other people who feel the same I feel. I don't promote any of that. But I'll suffer for that. Is that fair? It'll be worse for me not to have any1 to relate.

“this prohibition is intended to reach only those blogs that cross the line into active promotion or glorification.”

The blogs you describe are exactly the ones that I hope stay up. The Tumblr staff don’t want to completely stop self-harm from being talked about. Many self-harm blogs on tumblr, like the ones you describe, are where people find others to relate with. Which is incredibly important. I think that knowing there are others going through the same situation, and not feeling alone is an important part of eventually preventing self-harm. I believe that the staff realise this, they just don’t want to host blogs that actively promote self-harm, for example, blogs that recommend self-harm techniques.
